CTU UCEEB is a university institute dedicated to innovative technologies in the built environment. We bridge the gap between research and practical application, participating in the development and quality verification of cutting-edge solutions. Our institute is involved in numerous Horizon projects (SPARCS, ARV, ASCEND, CrAFt, NEB-STAR, GLocalFlex, NBS-INFRA), focusing on initiatives such as the New European Bauhaus, Positive Energy Districts, energy flexibility, sensoric systems, active building envelopes, plug-and-use renovation, and prefabricated construction.

Urban innovation is a key area of focus for CTU UCEEB. We support cities and towns in achieving strategic sustainable management, emphasizing construction, energy efficiency, and Smart Cities. For specific construction projects, both new builds and retrofits, we provide state-of-the-art design expertise at the building, public space, and neighborhood levels.
For our business partners, CTU UCEEB offers on-demand R&D services in construction, sensorics, and energy systems. Our services include expertise in photovoltaics, Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), facility management, and nature-based and circular construction elements.

Senzomatic system:
Timber buildings are becoming more popular in Europe, with both residential and commercial buildings being built, but concerns about moisture and hidden water damage threatening the longevity and safety of these structures persist. The Senzomatic system, developed by CTU UCEEB researchers, offers a cost-effective solution. Its sensors monitor the wooden structure of the building and detect increasing humidity issues early. The high number of Senzomatic installations confirms its effectiveness, which has won the favour of insurance companies.

Flexible Power System Control:
Our predictive algorithms excel in their generality and scientific approach, addressing core problems of power system flexibility. We create entire ecosystems of solutions, including feedback learning (VPForecast.cz), computer vision (Sky-Imagery), and genetic optimization of renewable energy (aes.aers.cz). This enables us to meet the needs of companies, industry, and society in the face of future challenges.

Metrorost ("Subway Garden"):
Metrorost is a low-maintenance plant installation with intelligent control, designed to reduce maintenance efforts, improve environmental quality, and lower irrigation water consumption. Its sophisticated configuration allows for plant installations in typically unsuitable environments, such as areas with insufficient light.

SYNERGYS Project:
The SYNERGYS project develops a research infrastructure based on a deep geothermal source (3.5 km) and energy systems with seasonal heat storage, hydrogen production, and waste heat utilization from electrolysis. It integrates large-scale solar thermal and photovoltaic systems with high-temperature heat pumps. The infrastructure aims to test and evaluate various technologies for transforming future district heating systems.
