The pilot event for the concept of City For The Future took place in Budapest between 21-22 September 2021, within the confines of Civitas Sapiens Smart City Conference. It was a great honour for us to be part of the greatest professional event on the subject of smart cities in Hungary, organised by Digital Success Programme (Digitális Jólét Program). The two day event was arranged as a hybrid event and was complemented by a V4 Summit element, in line with Hungary’s presidency of the V4 group.
As the guest country of the conference, we aimed to give a comprehensive insight into the smart city developments and best practices in the Czech Republic, hoping that we could provide valuable inspiration and information both to the Hungarian mayors and decision makers involved in the topic.
The Budapest part of the City For The Future roadshow was organised by the Czech Embassy in Budapest, the headquarters of the Czech Trade Promotion Agency in Prague and the Budapest office of CzechTrade, in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. The patrons of the event were the Czech Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry, Trade and Transportation, Karel Havlíček and Minister of Regional Development, Ms. Klára Dostálová.
One of the main features of the event was the physical construction of a mini smart city park consisting of Czech solutions in the conference area. The aim was to introduce Czech technologies to the participants in practice, and to simulate a functioning smart city that no longer represents the distant future at all. In the tent with an area of 450 m2, more than twenty Czech exhibitors presented themselves, including selected integrated solutions focused precisely on issues that are the daily work topic of mayors and municipal services.
Finally, with the help of 3D-scan, we moved the entire Czech mini smart city park to the virtual space, which will allow companies to use the created presentations even after the event.
